About Me

Me and the sister!

Hi, so if you’ve made it here I guess you want to know more about me. I don’t know why, or what you want to know about me, but I’ll do what I can. I’m currently a senior agricultural communications major at Missouri State University with a minor in ag. business. I grew up on a family farm in central Missouri with my parents and my younger sister and brother. For most of my childhood we just rented out the land for crops and livestock to our neighbors, and we just kept a few horses until I was in junior high. Once my sister and I got into high school we got involved in FFA, and as anyone involved in FFA knows you have to have an SAE so we bought some head of pregnant cows from my uncle.

Growing up, I was involved in 4-H from age eight up and spent my summers at camp and traveling everywhere, from Huntsville Alabama to Washington D.C. 4-H also meant time spent at fairs and around the animal barns, while I didn’t show myself many of my friends did and so we’d spend time over there. After I was old enough to do so I got hired on at the 4-H camp I went to as a kid as a lifeguard.  Part of the reason I’m getting my masters is so one day I can work for Extension as a Youth Specialist and help 4-Hers get as much out of the organization as I did.

Baseball is a family affair, that’s for sure.

My family is pretty important to me, not just my immediate family but my extended family as well. On my dad’s side, I have two aunts, my uncle in law, and two cousins. On my mom’s side I have my mom’s eight siblings and their spouses and then all of their kids, which is way too many for me to count up just off the top of my head. We’re all close and see each other regularly so this has shaped me as a person. In fact, my Papa, Mom’s dad, had played a part in some of my interests including fishing (not that I’m great at it) and baseball, more specifically St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball. I’ve also started hunting because of one of my uncles, and most importantly learned I do NOT want to be a traditional k-12 teacher due to all my aunts, cousins, and mom who have shown me the struggles teachers face.

So that’s a little about me, it might not be what you expected (I know it’s definitely not what I expected to write, but then again I never do when it comes to writing about myself)
but if you have any type of questions just send it my way and I’ll get back to you faster than you can say Quidditch (you can never stop a nerd from including at least one Harry Potter reference).

(Also just a disclaimer, a good chunk of these photos came from Instagram and have filters applied.)
